Eternity issue — context

Context on Issue 3 from onboarding #115 Eternity Issue and the 12 Oct check-in, as of 2026-10-22. Moved here from the 2615 magazine operations notes. Individual contacts and where each stands are in the contributor invitations list. Tasks are in Beads (lip-str).

  • Audience and purpose: people in our network. Strengthen the network, a call to action for voice and credibility, more visibility for Seeds of Renaissance.
  • Aim: announce it in the newsletter and open submissions.
  • Assets made: Google Form (reviewed, edits collated), announcement paragraph, Call for Submissions for the website, "About the magazine" paragraph, and an outreach email template for contributors. Yo-Yo arranged the newsletter slot.
  • Outreach so far: Jamie Bristow and Valérie first. Hold Martin and one other until November, when Sylvie can have a quick in-person chat. The issue body names the other person as Phap Lin; Asdra's 12 Oct note says Fabienne. To confirm with Sylvie.
  • Sylvie's contacts (her own follow-ups, which Fae chases):
    • Contact Seth Dillinger about referencing or adapting his article "The Connective Tissue of Our Eternal Belonging", and a possible contribution.
    • Ask Phap Lin to write for the issue.
    • Find the earlier AI brainstorm on the issue's direction, on Rufus's ChatGPT account.
    • Compile a list of writers to invite.
    • Optional: a short video on why she chose the theme.
  • Other possible contributors: Emma Dabiri (priority; see lip-mma), names from Oracular Studies, and Xavier, for advice on getting submissions.

Editorial line

This is how Sylvie framed the issue in her invitation to Sarah Wilson on 15 Oct 2026. Eternity has long meant immortality, so it is tied to impermanence, the theme of Issue 1. It also has a mystical sense: the eternal now, timeless awareness, the ground of being. The issue explores where these two meanings meet, across religion, mysticism, philosophy, cosmology, poetry, art, science and consciousness. It ends on the question "What is eternal?" at a time when we are watching a civilisation end.

Topics of particular interest:

  • Eternal cyclicality: return and rebirth
  • The eternal now: timelessness
  • Divine eternity: God
  • Cosmic eternity: stars, oceans, mountains, sky
  • Immortality through continuity: lineage, memory, culture
  • Gold, the eternal element that does not decay: permanence
  • AI and the dream of immortality: secular eternity
  • Heaven

Contributions are needed by January 2027.

Where postal addresses live (checked 2026-10-22)

There is no single list of people we want to send the magazine to. Addresses are spread across:

The single intake list and SOP are planned in lip-np0 (planning #30).
