Existing skills, plugins and MCP servers for the SoR / Life Itself media pipeline
Research date: 2026-10-20. Scope: Claude Code / Agent Skills (SKILL.md), Claude plugins and MCP servers that could help a small team producing long-form podcast interviews (YouTube + audio feeds) plus derived social content. Repo stats come from the GitHub API on 2026-10-20 (stars, last push, licence). Plugin-directory entries come from the Anthropic plugin directory search in this session. Every repo listed was confirmed to exist. Registry pages such as claudskills.com, claudeskills.info and skills.sh aggregate GitHub content; I cite the GitHub source instead wherever I could find it.
TL;DR
- The text side is well covered. Show notes, chapters, guest briefs, newsletter drafts and repurposing plans all exist as free MIT skills. Most are prompt templates of modest quality. Their structure is worth borrowing, but our house voice and our own checks are what will make the output good.
- The visual side is thin. Carousel and quote-card skills exist, but almost all are personal or toy projects with 0–20 stars. The one mature project (guizang, 7.6k stars) targets Chinese platforms and is AGPL. Two better routes: (a) our own HTML→PNG carousel skill built on things already installed (frontend-slides, impeccable, design-html), or (b) the official Canva plugin, which can autofill a brand template from rows.
- Quote verification is a gap. No skill checks that a quote appears verbatim in a transcript at a given timestamp. We should write a small one. A deterministic script would be safest.
- Vendor MCP servers are mature and official. Descript, Riverside, Canva, Metricool and Buffer all have official MCP servers. Most are new (2026), and Riverside requires a higher paid plan.
