Briefing: our initiatives, who's responsible, where tasks live

For Uriel and anyone new to the planning repository. It takes five minutes. After that, use the front page as your reference.

Three things to know

1. This repository is now the one list of what Life Itself works on. It replaces the Tao portfolio and the Programs & Projects spreadsheet.
2. Keep using the tools you already use. Each initiative (or project) chooses its own tracker. Media House mostly uses Asana, Ops uses GitHub and planning uses Beads, and that carries on. We just record which tracker, so anyone can find the tasks.
3. What matters most is who is responsible for what. Check the list below. If your name is missing, wrong, or should be on something else, tell Rufus.

Initiatives and projects

• Initiative: a long-running area, like a product, with no end date. Examples: Media House, Podcast & YouTube.
• Project: a bounded piece of work with an end point. Example: a podcast season, or even a single episode if it's big enough to need planning.

Initiatives are recorded here. A project can be a file here or an A10 Google Doc: whichever suits you.

Who's responsible, and where tasks live

Active initiatives, grouped as they sit in the portfolio. The name is the source (the owner: field): the person responsible for the area and the one to ask, in the Work with Source sense. Many other people work on these too. "—" means not yet confirmed or recorded.

Reading the portfolio view

The portfolio view shows the same tree. Columns are labelled: status, Source, 🏠 website, 🐙 GitHub repository, and Tasks, which names the tool (Asana, GitHub or Beads) and links to it. "not set" means no tracker is recorded yet. Google Drive folders are linked inside each initiative's page.

What we'd like from you

• Check the rows you're involved in. Is the source right? Is the tracker link right? Is anything missing, or split too finely or too coarsely?
• Fill the gaps you know about, especially the "—" entries. Edit directly (AI can help) or send Rufus the link, the change and how you know.
• Start projects however suits you, as a file here or an A10 Doc, linked to your tracker. See start a project. No approval step.
